    Modest Beginnings

Scott Builders was formed in 1971 and remained a relatively small regional general contractor, specializing in the sale and erection of Butler Engineered Building Systems. In 1978 we began to broaden our service options into Design-Build work. The company remained a relatively small, regional builder until Ralph Ward took over in 1986.

Within 3 years, our company expanded by opening full-service offices in Calgary and Edmonton. This growth was driven by our ability to design and construct larger projects, growth in our client base of repeat customers, and our company-wide DNA to put our employees and customers first.

At the time, I saw Scott Builders as a competent Design-Build contractor operating primarily in the light industrial/commercial markets in Central Alberta with a solid reputation. They were truly a negotiating contractor that took very good care of its customers and its people.
– Ralph Ward

The growth from a $5 million local construction firm in 1986 to ranking in the TOP 50 Contractors in Canada is significant and has been matched by the addition of an outstanding group of people at every level.

Several of our key people started at the job site and ultimately became key members of our management team. We gave them an opportunity to grow and prosper and as employees and owners they continue to contribute significantly to our success.
– Ralph Ward

    Building Relationships

During their 50+ years in business, repeat clients have averaged over 70% of Scott Builders business. During the 90’s Scott Builders designed and constructed twenty-two Revy Home and Garden retail stores; eighteen of them were mega stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. The success of the Revy program was exemplary and clearly spoke to Scott Builders capabilities to manage the Design and Construction of large multi-site projects, helping to promote relationships with NEW major buyers of construction.
